Technique: interactive sound sculpture
Material: wood, metal, acrylic glass (lacer cut), clothes, Mp3 player with soundloop
During the refugee crisis people were moving away from war or the unbearable life situations crossing the Mediterranean in boats in search for a better life and situations in the European Union. We opened our borders for the walking refugees, but we did not manage with the integration of all, this cause years later a wave of hardness from both sides, then came the war in Ukraine and more people had to leave their homes.
In the interactive work you can step inside and listen to the wild waves of the sea, or is it the calm before the storm? The shape of a house, the EU-pallet filled with colored clothes, in many of the open shafts the silhouette of a running office man becomes the symbol for our stressful lives – how can we find peace and calm in the midst of all the hardness that keeps coming?
