Make your Leap

A permanent site-specific sculpture of an abstracted grasshopper placed on the open space at Nygatans Park in Hasselfors, Laxa municipality. A gravel walk runs beside the sculpture, at each end are two square columns with 7 glass signs which tell stories from the past to the present of Hasselfors, about the agriculture, the foresting and iron handling.
Junibacken’s preschool have gotten their own window gallery in one of the columns here they display works inspired by the season changes. In one of the corners in the park is a barbecue area with a bench inspired by the sculpture’s zigzag pattern.

Material: stainless steel, lark wood, UV printed glass, metal, a glass vitrine.
Size of sculpture: 600 x 400 x 300cm
Size each column: 80 x 80 x 260cm

key words:
community & cultural activities, …history of the mill, the sheer green nature, a place to sit, extension of the playground, a pavilion or meeting place, to move forward – vitality have inspired us in the process.

To create attention and give a new identity is something we think is important. The choice of materials has been reasoned around factors that affects the environment, but also which materials provide sustainability and connects to the history of the place, what the artwork should transport – both in choice of materials and in symbolic value. Based on site’s specific characteristics the work has taken into account many wishes of the inhabitants of Hasselfors.
